About Cherif Boutros, MD

A hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncologist, Dr. Boutros has clinical expertise in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic cancers, with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches. He has extensive experience in totally laparoscopic and robotic complex surgeries and cytoreductive surgery and heated chemotherapy. He has authored numerous publications and book chapters and has presented innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex abdominal cancers at national and international meetings. Dr. Boutros is a prolific researcher, focused on minimally invasive approaches for gastrointestinal cancers, nonresectional therapy for hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer, new treatment modalities for peritoneal surface malignancy, and hepatic regeneration after liver resection. Dr. Boutros received his medical degree from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. He completed surgical training in France, as well as here in New Jersey at various hospital sites including Beth Israel Newark, Morristown, and Monmouth Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at Roger Williams Medical Center (Boston University School of Medicine), in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Boutros received additional advanced training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the internationally renowned hepatobiliary center at Paul Brousse Hospital, France.
