Englewood Health Appoints Malay S. Rao, MD, Chief of Radiation Oncology

March 4, 2025 Englewood Health has appointed Malay S. Rao, MD, PharmD, chief of radiation oncology at The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center. Dr. Rao is a radiation oncologist whose clinical interests include cancers of the brain, breast, head and neck, lung, prostate, spine, gastrointestinal tract, and genitourinary system; lymphoma; myeloma; sarcoma; and cancer pain management. He is a member of the Englewood Health Physician Network and sees patients at Englewood Radiation Oncology, located at 350 Engle Street in Englewood.   
 
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Rao to our exceptional radiation oncology team,” says Cherif Boutros, MD, medical director of The Lefcourt Family Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Englewood Health. “He brings a wealth of expertise in novel therapies for central nervous system tumors, targeted radiation using radioactive isotopes, and accelerated partial breast techniques designed to minimize long-term side effects. His experience further strengthens our team’s commitment to delivering the highest quality cancer care close to home. We look forward to his contributions.”  
 
Dr. Rao received his MD from Rutgers Health–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and a PharmD from Rutgers Health–Ernesto Mario School of Pharmacy. He did a radiation oncology residency, and was chief resident, at Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health–Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic and Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. In addition to English, Dr. Rao is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.

As chief of radiation oncology, Dr. Rao succeeds Dr. David Dubin, who served the community as a radiation oncologist and chief of radiation oncology at Englewood Hospital for nearly 35 years.
