Appointments

If you are experiencing more severe symptoms, your primary care physician may refer you to the Center for Sleep Medicine for a more thorough evaluation. You must have a prescription.

Call 201-894-3154 to schedule your visit.

Prior to your scheduled appointment, please take some time to complete a pre-test questionnaire (English | Spanish), and bring this completed form with you on the day of your appointment. This will help the physician evaluate your test results.

Overnight Sleep Evaluations

Overnight stays can be arranged any night of the week, including weekends. Our sleep lab has four suites. Each spacious, hotel-sized room has a full-sized mattress and a private bathroom to make your stay feel as much like home as possible.

Nocturnal Polysomnogram

If you are referred to us for sleep apnea, the most common sleep disorder, we will conduct a specialized test called a nocturnal polysomnogram (NPSG). This test evaluates your sleep patterns.

To perform this noninvasive test, a skilled technician places small sensors at various points on the body and you’ll go to bed. These sensors continuously measure and record brain waves, eye movements, heart rhythms, muscle activity, breathing patterns, respiratory effort, body positioning during sleep, and recording of leg muscle movement to diagnose leg movement disorders.

This test provides highly reliable information on excessive snoring, daytime sleepiness, unexplained headaches, and severe airway obstructions.

Home Sleep Evaluations

If appropriate, home sleep testing can be performed for an in-home evaluation of sleep apnea. Once the test is complete, a board-certified sleep specialist interprets the results, confirms a diagnosis, and works with your physician to develop a treatment plan.

Other Sleep Evaluations

We offer evaluations for narcolepsy and excessive daytime sleepiness through a multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) and a maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT) as needed for fulfillment of commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements.

We also offer pap naps, which is a short, daytime study that helps you get accustomed to using a positive airway pressure device and to address any concerns you have that might interfere with successful treatment of your sleep apnea.
