The team at The Karen and Gary Singer Family Family Birth Place wants to make your hospital stay as pleasant as possible and get you and your baby off to a healthy start. 

For your comfort and safety, our unit features:

  • Eight labor and delivery rooms with private bathrooms and in-room music, plus two operating rooms for planned or emergency C-sections
  • Hydrotherapy tubs for labor support
  • 21 spacious private and 3 semiprivate postpartum rooms (private rooms are assigned when available, but cannot be guaranteed)
  • A sleeper sofa for your partner/support person
  • Lighting that eliminates disruptions and provides ambiance during the day, the evening, and feeding times
  • Room service, including kosher and Korean specialty items
  • In-room massage therapy services (additional cost)

Rooming and Bonding with Your Baby

We strongly encourage mothers and babies to remain together throughout your hospital stay, including at night. This will help you bond with your baby, sleep better, learn to recognize early feeding cues, successfully breastfeed, and prepare you to care for your baby after going home. We will teach you to practice skin-to-skin contact, also called kangaroo care, which has many physical and emotional benefits. 

Support for Siblings

Our child life specialists are available to help big brothers and sisters adjust to having a new sibling in the family. Call 201-894-3635 to learn more.

Breastfeeding

We are committed to educating parents about the benefits of breastfeeding. We encourage all mothers to prepare in advance with the goal of exclusively breastfeeding your baby during your hospital stay. Our lactation consultants are available to help teach you how to breastfeed. Learn more about breastfeeding support.  

Massage Therapy

We offer massage therapy with licensed therapists from the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine in the privacy of your hospital room. Postnatal massage therapy focuses on the needs of new mothers, helping your body prepare recover from pregnancy and the birth of your baby. Fees vary and these services are not covered by insurance.

Newborn Photography

A professional photographer is available and will provide a complimentary photo as well as the option to purchase a package.
